1 Corinthians

Brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people but as fleshly people, as babies in Messiah. I fed you with milk and not solid food, because you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are not ready even now, because you are still fleshly. Since there is jealousy and division among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and acting like unconverted people? For when one of you says, “I am with Paul,” and another says, “I am with Apollos,” are you not being fleshly and merely human? Who after all is Apollos? And who is Paul? Only servants through whom you became believers, as the Lord gave opportunity in ministry to each of us. I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth. So neither the person who plants is anything, nor the one who waters, but God who causes the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters are one, but each will receive his own reward for his own work. We are co-workers who belong to God. You are God’s field, His building. Through the grace of God given to me, like a skillful master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it. But let each person be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any other foundation than the one which has been laid, which is Jesus Messiah. If anyone builds on that foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, or wood, hay, or straw, each builder’s work will be seen clearly. For the Day will make it plain, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each builder has done. If a builder’s work still stands, he will receive a reward. If a builder’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved as if through fire. Do you not understand that you all are a temple of God and that the spirit of God lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him, because God’s temple is holy, and that is what you are. Let no one deceive himself. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become “stupid” so that he can become wise! For the wisdom of this world-system is stupidity to God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their own trickery,” and “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise; they are pointless.” So let no one boast about people. For everything belongs to you — whether Paul, Apollos, or Peter, the world, life, death, things present, or things to come — everything belongs to you, and you belong to Messiah, and Messiah belongs to God.
