After these things I heard what sounded like the loud voice of a great
multitude in heaven, saying, “Hallelujah! Salvation, glory and power belong
to our God, 2 because His judgments are true and just. For He has judged the
great prostitute, who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and He
has avenged the blood of His servants at her hand.”
3 A second time they
shouted, “Hallelujah! Her smoke goes up to the ages of the ages.”
4 The twenty-four
elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God who is
seated on the throne, saying, “Amen! Hallelujah!”
5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Give praise to our God, all you His servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.”
6 Then I heard
what sounded like the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters
and like loud crashes of thunder. They shouted, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our
God, the Almighty, has begun to reign!
[1653] 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and
give Him glory, because the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride
has made herself ready.”
[1654] 8 She was permitted to dress in bright, clean, fine
linen, as the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints. 9 Then the angel said to me, “Write: Blessed are those who are invited to
the wedding banquet of the Lamb!” He said to me, “These are the true words
of God.”
10 So I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “Do not do
this! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers and sisters who hold
Jesus’ Gospel-testimony. Worship God, for Jesus’ Gospel-testimony is the
spirit of prophecy.”
[1655] 11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. The one riding
it is called Faithful and True, and in justice he judges and makes war.
12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name
written which no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in clothing
dipped in blood, and his name is “The Word of God.”
[1656] 14 The armies which
are in heaven, clothed in white, clean, fine linen, were following him on
white horses. 15 Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp sword, so that with it he
can strike[1657] the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod.[1658] He treads
the wine press of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. 16 He has on his
clothing and on his thigh a name written: “King of kings and lord of lords.”
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he shouted to all the birds
flying high in the sky, “Come! Gather together for the great banquet of God, 18 to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of commanders, the flesh of powerful
people, the flesh of horses and those who ride them, and the flesh of all
people, both free and slave, small and great.”
19 Then I saw the beast and the
kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against him
who rode on the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur. 21 The rest
were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the one who rode the
horse, and all the birds gorged themselves with their flesh.

Revelation

The same expression appears in Dan. 2:45.
[1653]
This is the moment for which believers are to pray “Your Kingdom come.” The Kingdom of
God, the center of the saving Gospel, is firstly and primarily the new world government which Jesus
will supervise with the saints of all the ages on the earth, at his Second Coming (Parousia). The life of
that Kingdom can be experienced in the present in spirit, provided we repent and believe in God, the
Messiah and their Gospel of the Kingdom. The spirit is given to us as a foretaste and downpayment of
future immortality.
[1654]
Cp. 2 Cor. 11:1-3 where Paul is distressed that like the deception of Eve by the Satan in the
garden, the virgin church might be seduced by false, counterfeit versions of the Gospel and Jesus. This
would repeat the disaster in Eden.
[1655]
The Gospel of the Kingdom itself is a grand prophecy of God’s intention to produce peace on
earth worldwide when the Messiah returns to rule from Jerusalem (see Dan. 2:44; 7:14, 18, 22, 27, etc).
Believing the Gospel as Jesus preached it brings the true spirit of God and Jesus.
[1656]
Jesus as Son of God is what the word/wisdom of God became. The word is the NT synonym
for the Gospel of the Kingdom. Jesus is the preacher of that Gospel and is therefore God’s word. He is
uniquely expressive of his Father, God. On no account is he himself actually God (which would make
two Gods). But Jesus is and was fully expressive of God, his Father, such that “If you have seen the
Son you have seen the Father” (Jn. 14:9). Jesus reflects the word and character of his Father, as the
perfect, sinless Son who always carried out the Father’s will. Thomas finally came to this full
understanding when he greeted Jesus as “my lord [Messiah] and my God” (Jn. 20:28), i.e. I now see
what I did not earlier understand, that if I have seen the Son I have seen the Father, God in Christ.

Including the supernatural destruction of the Antichrist, defined by Paul as the Assyrian, citing Isa. 11:4 in 2 Thess. 2:8.
[1658]
Quoting the all-important Messianic Ps. 2 which also defines the Son as one who was
begotten not in eternity but in time, “today,” fulfilled in Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:18, 20; 1 John 5:18; Isa. 9:6
where the promised Son is begotten (by God).
