2 Thessalonians
Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the Gospel-word of the Lord will speed on and be honored, just as it was with you,
and that we will
be delivered from perverse and wicked people, as not everyone has the
faith.
But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and guard you from
the Evil One.
And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing
and will do what we command.
May the Lord direct your hearts to the love
of God and to the perseverance of the Messiah.
We command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our lord Jesus
Messiah, to avoid any brother or sister who leads an undisciplined life and not
according to the tradition you learned from us.
For you know that you ought to
imitate us, because we did not behave in an undisciplined way among you,
nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying. Instead with labor and toil we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to any of you.
This is not because we do not have that right, but to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
Even when we were with you we used to give you this command: anyone who is not willing to work should not eat.
For we hear
that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, not working but
interfering in others’ business.
Those people we command and exhort in the
lord Jesus Messiah to work quietly and earn their own living.
And you,
brothers and sisters, do not grow weary doing what is right.
If anyone does not obey what we write in this letter, note that person and
do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.
Yet do not count him
as an enemy, but keep admonishing him as a brother.
May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in all
ways. The Lord be with you all.
I write this greeting with my own hand — Paul, which is my genuine signature in every letter. This is my handwriting.
The grace of our lord Jesus Messiah be with you all.
